For many centuries herbs were used by tribes and some cultures around the world and are becoming more and more popular as a natural way of treating constipation. Herbs such as Aloe Vera, Dandelion (Taraxacum Officinale) and the Passiflora Species are ones which have laxative properties and also help the digestive system as well as acting as a tonic for a person’s liver. These herbs can often be used in treating both chronic and occasional bouts of constipation and almost all of them have no side effects associated with them.
You can buy these herbs in tablet form as well and each tablet contains a definite amount of the fresh herb within them. Other natural (and inexpensive) constipation cures?
I usually keep a stash of prunes in the house (they are to me like chocolate is to other people). But I found out that my dad had eaten them all.
I’ve been feeling congested since a month and a half ago, and the congestion has spurred overeating…
I finally made it to the store today and bought 3/4 of a pound of prunes, and I ate them all over a period of three hours. It’s been eight hours since I finished them, and I still haven’t had a bowel movement, I’ve just been feeling rather gassy. It’s starting to worry me, as half that many prunes usually clean me out within a few hours. Should I go buy some more? Is there anything that works better than prunes? I feel so sluggish and disgusting because my bowels are so slow and filthy, and the sooner I get better, the sooner I can get back to my diet.
I don’t have very much money, and I’d prefer not to use laxatives.
I have been having daily (though incomplete) bowel movements.
Thanks!
Drink a ton of water. Or buy some Plumsmart, that stuff is good for your bowels.
Don’t worry about having bowel movements everyday, everyones bowels are different. I go around every 4 days and I don’t consider myself unhealthy, im just lazy with slow bowels LOL.

Fiber pills are fairly inexpensive, and work fairly well. I believe its about $3.00 for 100 capsules at a wal mart. The recommended daily dose is 3-4, but I would start with one per day, increasing the number until the desired regularity is acheived. They don’t have strange chemicals, and you can also find them at natural foods stores.

I’m sure that many prunes will work for you, my experience is a pretty urgent call of nature with half the amount too.
Drink plenty of water or orange or apple juice even better, I guarrantee you will be running to the bathroom within an hour or two at the most.
Don’t be tempted to pass gas after drinking apple juice after prunes!
